She was mad at her life insurance company again because they kept increasing her group liability every time she adopted a new child. She owned a house that held at least 47 orphans at all time that she adopted from countries in Asia where they could not afford to keep their children. She would take them here and insure the family that they would be relocated to a safe, loving family that would take good care of them and make sure that their children had a way to take care of themselves when they grew up. She knew that many of the families were counting on their children coming to find them and help them out in their adult age. She hoped that they would, but even if her parents had given her up because they thought it was best, she would have a hard time going back and visiting them, let alone going back to live with them some day. But the life insurance company was going to force her to give the children back to their parents, where many of them would likely be sold into child labour where they would make no money any way. Today she was not feeling very friendly toward her life insurance company.
She was going to give the children a chance to go visit their parents if they wanted of course, and if they wanted to stay than that would be their choice. She had retained all of the parents addresses so that the children could go find them, even when they were with their new families and in their new homes. She picked up a small child and cradled him in her arms. He wiggled out and ran to go join his little friends. A thought about her life insurance company crossed her mind again.
Her husband was at his apartment in Paris for the week, and he always came home on weekends. He had been fine with the housing arrangements because she had told him that it would make her happy. It had been easier to convince him to live here and commute between Paris and the house than it was to open a missionary orphanage in their new home. She had fought for the ability and finally it was hers, and she loved it. She thought that if she didn;t work, and that her husband was gone so much she should be doing something for some family out there who could not afford to keep their children.
